What the Wednesday!

Better late than never, right?

I have the coolest neighborhood
I really think it's rare
But I love it here
It makes me want to just deal with my tiny kitchen
And live here the rest of my life
People are just so friendly
And helpful

Hazel watched Cinderella
For the first time this week
It's all over, folks
The girl is decidedly a princess
Actually, she's a pencess
How can I not indulge her every request?

My high school reunion is Friday
I can't decide what color to paint my nails
Also, an outfit would be nice

So much running

Do you wear an apron when you cook?
I just started doing it
Hello?
My clothes stay so clean when I cook
Why did I never think of this before?

I put us on a budget
Like instead of looking at our month after we spend money
I planned how much to spend on things
It makes me so happy just knowing that I have a plan
Now the easy part
Sticking to it
Right?

I really wish I didn't like ice cream so much
I'll eat it whenever and wherever
But it makes me sick
Every time

Have a grand Wednesday!

San Diego Famiy Trip

Back in June, we packed up the car and bikes for a 5-day stay in San Diego, CA. We did so much in those 5 days and still could have stayed longer. We're anxious to go back someday and do it again. Here's how we spent our time in lots of pictures and a few words.

DAY 1

We checked into our Hotel on a Sunday night. We got the kids suite that included a set of bunk beds. Total success at a good night's sleep. The kids were locked away with their own bed and tv so we could get lots of rest. Before we checked in, we headed to the Mormon Battalion Museum in Old Town. A true highlight of our trip. This place is COOL! Super interactive and more just just a tour. The missionaries there were so great and our kids were allowed to run and jump on things without us having to worry.  They even took this cute family picture for us!  Awesome!

DAY 2
Sea World & Evolution Fast Food

Before we left, we thought we'd look up some Hazel-friendly dining options and Evolution Fast Food caught my eye.  It's vegan fast food and SO yummy.  It was fresh, delicous and tricked Cannon (our harshest critic) into thinking he was consuming chicken nuggets.  Score.  After we finished our hamburgers, chocolate shakes and french fries, we came out to the lovely note placed on our car "don't drink and drive".  Thanks random homeless person in San Diego, for that pertinent reminder.

DAY 3
Coronado Island, Beach & Padres Game

We started out each day at Balboa park walking and running the beautiful gardens.  Then we returned to the hotel for showers and breakfast.  This day we headed to the gorgeous Coronado Island.  My favorite part of the whole trip.  We parked in front of this beautiful beach front home and unloaded our bikes to ride along the shops.  I found the cutest little paper shop and bought two pretty little notebooks before hitting the beach for a little while.  That night we went to Sammy's Pizza for a vegan cheese pizza with a side of kalamata olives (a favorite) for Hazel (pictured below) and some yummy food for all.  We had a blast at the baseball game.  We sat in the nosebleed section until the kids got restless.  Then there was a little playground right in the stadium that we played on until about the 8th inning.  We met the nicest couple on our trolley ride to the hotel who gave us some tips and helped us find the little baseball Cannon lost on the ride.  Thanks sweet couple!  Oh, and I can't forget our favorite quote from this day.  On our way to Sammy's, we encountered a pair of homeless ladies pushing their shopping carts full of stuff.  Jarom (in his usual friendly way) said "hi!" and the lady immediately chastised him.  She said "We're in DISTRESS!  Can't you see that we are in DISTRESS?!?"  Well, it wasn't apparent but I guess walking down the street without a home would be distressing.  It caught us off guard but we say "I'm in distress" at least once a day now.  Hilarious!

DAY 4
Sea World, Temple, Seaport Village & Ponce's

I just have to say that this was a great day.  Ponce's had the BEST guacamole.  Yum!

DAY 5
Mission Beach, CBW & Seals

The seals were smelly but cool to watch.  They would mostly lay on the beach but once in a while one would slip into the ocean and playfully bounce in the waves.  We got yummy food at CBW - Crazy Bowls and Wraps.  Then we rode our bikes along mission beach boardwalk and saw the cool beach houses.  It was kind of a rainy, cold day so it was perfect to just be chill and not get in the water.

Oh, man.  This was one of the best vacations ever.  I loved being with my family and I really loved running in such a beautiful place.  There is so much to do we were never bored.  I think we'll make it back soon - at least for some guacamole and vegan food!  Thanks for the great time, San Diego!

What the Wednesday!

Jarom and I had a lengthy discussion
About the performance of jelly shoes
They must be a podiatrists' worst nightmare
Just go with me here
Lack of ventialation and sweat are a breeding ground for athletes foot
(not to mention other gross things)
Poor arch support
No cushioning
It's a good thing adults look really silly in them

Happy Birthday, Kelly!

My waffle iron broke
It's a sad day at the Becar house today
Speaking of waffles
I really dislike Belgian waffles
Whatever happened to good old fashioned waffles with little divits?

Also my rice cooker broke
What is up with my small kitchen appliances?
I bought a new one at Costco
It cooks like a gallon of rice at a time
And doubles as a slow-cooker
Don't tell my blender,
But I think I'm in love

Jarom's got a hankerin' for poutine
It's a Canadian comfort food
That includes french fries smothered in cheese curds and gravy
Yes, it's as gross as it sounds

Are you hungry, yet?
Want me to stop talking about food?
Okay, but just one more
Jarom had a conference in Park City yesterday
Of course that means one thing for me
Vegan chocolate chip cookies from Whole Foods
I got up at 5am to run 5 miles so I could be ready to leave by 7:30am
And drive with him up to Park City
All for a chocolate chip cookie
Yes, they're that good!

Also, the Nike Outlet Store up there
Cutest running clothes ever
I just wish I wasn't so poor

Anyone have a great way to get Cannon to stop whining?
It's really throwing off my groove

What the Wednesday!

I talk about
Thanksgiving Point
a lot.

I did it.
I cut Jarom's hair
I watched a youtube video first
And I just went for it
It looks good!
Whew!

Yesterday
I went out to the garden to check on things
You know,
Like a good gardener should
And I found a pea pod that was bursting with peas
I ate them
They were sweet and delicious
I now consider it a successful year in the garden
Go veggies!

Saturday
we went to the Stadium of Fire
It was a blast
On the way home
Traffic was at a stand-still
We both had to pee
Really really bad
So, naturally
We rolled down the windows
and put Justin Bieber on repeat
Cranked up the bass
And rocked out
I haven't laughed that hard in a long time
People were rolling their windows down to dance with us
We're awesome.

It rained on the 4th of July this year
It was weird
But kind of nice not to be scorching hot.

There was a really cool thunder and lightning storm last night
I couldn't keep my eyes open
So I went to bed after watching it for 10 minutes

I hate my kitchen.

I need new running music.
What is your favorite workout song?

Swim lessons this week and next
It's like my kids hit the jackpot
Swimming every day
Heaven

Have a thunderous Wednesday
