The day we left for California, we got word that Jarom was approved for a promotion of sorts.
He has been working toward his Master's degree for the last 2 years. He graduates in April (Hallelujah!). This is crunch time for him. He's been applying for Administration jobs and working on his resume for the last few weeks. We are applying everywhere from Salt Lake to Saint George in hopes that he'd get something. Administration jobs are hard to get especially right out of school.
Well, it just worked out that one of the assistant principals at his own school is being transferred to Lone Peak High School to fill a vacancy there. Jarom's principal requested that Jarom be the one to fill in the open position for the remainder of the year with the chance to keep the position next school year as well.
It was approved by the school board last Tuesday and starting in January, he'll be the assistant principal at his school. He'll be a TSA for the rest of the year since he's not completely finished with his degree. We are absolutely floored about this. I couldn't be more proud of him.
Yay Hubby! :)

Back from California
Wow. What a trip! We almost didn't go because of fires in Southern California. It was a bit smoky, but it turned out fine. We got back in record time (interesting since it was the first trip with the babe). We had a blast with the Cali. Becar Family. It was so fun to spend time with Chrissy before she goes on the mish.
We only ate at IN-N-OUT once. That's a crying shame. We did have a blast at the Becar home and hopefully stayed out of the way as preparations were made for the farewell and the mission home. Jordan's football game was cancelled and so was the BYU game that we had tickets for. Dang fires! We still managed to spend some quality time as a family and had a few good laughs here and there.
I sang a solo at Chrissy's farewell. I used to do this all the time and never felt an ounce of stage fright. This time was much different! I was shaking in my boots and thought I might pass out one the spot. I was actually pleasantly surprised that I didn't choke or crack. I know in my glory days, I wouldn't count it with my best performances, but like I said I was happy with it. It just tells me how far I've come and how much practice I have if I am ever going to be in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. (It's been a goal of mine for as long as I can remember.) Chrissy accompanied me on the piano. That girl has mad skills. She's amazing! Her talk was great too. She spoke of missionary work and told some pretty great stories. She's already a great missionary and we're stoked for her!
I didn't take very many pictures. I will definitely get some more this coming Wednesday as Chrissy enters the MTC here in Provo.
Cannon with Grandma Sheri
Yummy Toffee Dip for Apples
Okay, I totally stole this idea from my cousin. (shout out to Shelly!) I made this apple dip and then made a plate to share with my visiting teachees, Jarom's home teaching families, our presidencies, and some neighbor friends. It is so yummy. While I was making it, I couldn't help but sample each batch. :) It's creamy, and the toffee adds just the perfect crunch.
Ingredients:
1 pkg. cream cheese (8 oz.) - softened.
3/4 C. brown sugar
1/2 C. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 bar (8 oz.) of Heath Toffee (pound into small pieces using a ziploc bag and a rolling pin.)
Mix all the ingredients together in a mixer or with a hand mixer until blended and creamy.
Serve with sliced apples.
Yum!

Naptime
I just wanted to share another mini photo session from yesterday. I put him down for a nap on my bed yesterday. I don't nomally put him there for a nap. He has been so difficult with naps. I had a lot to do so I laid down next to him until he was asleep. Anyway, when he woke up, he was being so darling and snuggly in my comforter, I just had to snap these pictures.
p.s. Jarom, if you are reading this... I'm not getting distracted... we're ALMOST packed!!

FYI
We are going to back back to Cali Cali...
It's our first trip with the babe. Wish us luck because we'll need it! He started teething this week. Can you say... headache! So, I'll be gone for about a week. But, I will have lots of fun pictures and stories to share. Chrissy is going on a mission to Uruguay. We are so excited for her and we'll miss her a lot!

3rd Best Chili This Side of Utah Lake!
We had our annual neighborhood chili contest last night and it was a tight race with about 25 entries and I took 3rd place!! Yahoo! Check out the awesome chili trophy I got! I also made a yummy apple pie and a Hawaiian scarecrow. :) Jarom was the emcee for the night and we had a blast!
Afterwards we went to our neighbors house and watched Transformers. (more than meets the eye!) Well, okay, we watched half of Transformers and we both fell asleep so we went home. Haha! So fun!

4 Months
Today is a bittersweet day. I am so excited that Cannon is growing up and discovering the world. It also makes me so sad. He's not the tiny baby that we brought home from the hospital. He is big and strong and smart. He makes me laugh all the time. Every day he discovers new tricks and I am so proud. He is 4 months old today! My baby is growing up!

Mmmm!!
Cannon had his first solid food yesterday!!!
I can't believe he's already 4 months old. Time flies. Anyway, we got home from church and decided to give Cannon his first try of some rice cereal. He made some hilarious faces and we got some good pictures. Of course, most of the food ended up on his face and hands, but I think he liked it. :)
Here are some pics...

Getting Crafty!
Today was my first day (well, not ALL day) away from Cannon. The only time I have left him before was to go to the grocery store once. Jarom stayed home so I could go to Super Saturday. I was sort of in charge since I'm in the pres. so I had to go. I signed up for a bunch of fun crafts and I had a blast getting my craft on and chatting it up with the RS ladies.
I had to come home twice to feed Cannon. (One of the pitfalls of a baby who refuses a bottle.) But other than that, the boys were bonding. :) They watched football and Jarom did some work on the basement until our little guy had a meltdown and Jarom had to come back upstairs for some more football and bonding. Maybe now he knows why I never get anything done. Jarom even gave Cannon a bath and got him dressed! Wow! I like this!
Well, it was a great day, but I sure did miss my little man. He's been my little sidekick for so long. I don't know what I'd do without him. :)

Digging through the pics...

Does anyone ever do this? I will sometimes dig through my files of pictures and reminisce. My wedding day was the best day of my life (well, besides the day Cannon was born, but that day was also the most painful!). I'm sure everyone feels that way about their wedding day, but really it was awesome! I had so much fun and felt so special all day long. Some of the memories I have from June 24th 2004 that I will never forget:
- Being 20 minutes late to the temple and the look on Jarom's face when I finally showed up. He was scared. I had only broken up with him 3 times before that. He had no reason to be scared. Poor guy.
- Looking into Jarom's eyes as we were sealed. He cried. I cried.
- Walking out of the temple together.
- That rush of emotions as I realized I was actually MARRIED!
- Singing to him at the luncheon. I was sooo nervous!
- So much family all around us. I was so touched that people came from all over.
- My sister caught my bouqet and brother caught my garter.
- My wedding cake was super yummy. I crave it all the time, but I just don't have $300 for a cake. :)
- Feeling like I never wanted that day to end. It did. I have loved every minute since then and I love him more every day.
You are probably wondering where I've been?
Ha ha! I'm not going to neglect this blog any longer, but here is an explanation...
In the mornings I go jogging with my good friend Erica. She has a 3 year old and a 5 month old. We're on a mission to lose our baby jiggles. :) She informed me of the BEST home decor shop EVER called Tai Pan Trading. It's amazing. I don't know how I've lived in Utah my whole life and never heard of this place! Oh MY HECK! It's so cute and so cheap.
Well, we went on an adventure there on Tuesday and I bought a new table and mirror for my entryway. That inspired me to make a Home Depot trip for a new paint color for my living room. I chose a nice warm burnt orange (but mostly it's brown shade). Now I am in the midst of a home decoration frenzy. I have plans for the kitchen next and then my bedroom. whew!
I am so excited to post pictures when I'm finished with my huge project. Jarom's family is coming to our house at the end of October to send his sister on a mission. I'm determined to have this finished by then.
Until then... I wish you paintbrush wishes and embellishment dreams.
