Sewing Projects

Maybe it's the extra estrogen pumping through my system, but, I've been itching to sew. It all started when we tried to go shopping for baby girl stuff and I was disappointed when all the bedding sets were so, ummm, pink. Then I had a dream one night of my perfect little nursery for this baby girl. It was beautiful and not nearly as pink as the stuff in the stores. So, you know what they say... do it yourself? I pulled out my trusty old husqverna sewing machine that I must note is older than I am. It's from the late 70's and does 3 different stitches. That's it. But I love it because it does what I want it to.

Anyways, my mom helped me (a LOT) with this quilt. I still need to send it out for quilting. Don't look too closely, but I sure loved doing it! It's exactly what I had pictured and I can't wait to start finding things for the nursery to match it.
Then I decided to make some burp rags. These are actually cloth diapers that I added a few finishing touches to. They took me all day today. I'm so excited about how they turned out. I put one together last night and asked Jarom what he thinks. He said it's the cutest thing she'll ever throw up on. There's a little clue in there for you observant folk.

I hope that all this craftiness makes up for the things I didn't do today, like put pants on Cannon, or brush my hair and wash my makeup off from yesterday. Hey, you can't do it all, right?

  10. Kelly, you kill me! We also used receiving blankets with Cannon. If you really want to know, I'll whisper it in your ear at church. :)

Emily, thanks! I don't know how many I could really do right now. Maybe after I finish her room and give birth.

Mandy, yeah I was pretty indulgent today. heh heh.

Katy, if this baby girl is anything like Cannon was, we'll have plenty of baby vomit in various nooks and crannys. Oh, and yes, the carpet. Maybe it was wishful thinking that if I made something for her especially for puking on, then, just maybe she would try and aim for it. :)

Erica, hi! I know I haven't really talked to you lately. It's my fault for being a bad friend. Sorry!

  11. how come I don't know the name? is this a secret thing we don't know about? .... all I can guess is Hannah. I have no name creativity. :) and cute sheesh by the way! We don't have good fabric shops here which kind of puts a damper on any sewing projects I wish to embark upon, but you're inspiring!

  15. Those are very cute burp cloths! & the cloth diapers are so much better because they soak up so much more spit up than the other leading burp cloth brands. Where'd you get the cute idea of sewing tons on there? I love it! Look at you go! It's fun having girls!
