Cannon's Daddy

Jarom is such a sweet daddy. While I was pregnant, I often wondered how he would be as a dad. I never questioned his desire to be a father. He has always loved entertaining kids. When we taught sunbeams together, he was usually the one that I had to give "the look" to get him to be quiet. I always knew he'd be good. At the same time, it is definitely different when it's your own child.

Anyway.... Jarom is such a great dad! I can't explain in words, but here are a few examples...

He is currently teaching and going to night classes. It breaks his heart when he gets home late and his baby boy is already asleep for the night. Jarom always asks if he can wake him up to play. He walks quietly into the nursery, rests his head on the railing of the crib and just watches him sleep. It's the sweetest thing I've ever seen.

In the rare instance that Cannon is not asleep when Jarom gets home, he has this little song he made up that he sings. He calls him "monk-a-loo" and sings and plays with him to no end.

He buys Cannon toys and can't wait for the day when they can play together. I'm not talking stuffed animals. So far Cannon has a full size football, a dart gun, snowboard and his own set of yard work tools.

Feet

Cannon's father wears a size 15 shoe. Have you ever tried to shop for a size 15 shoe before? It is quite the frustrating task. I have been known to travel hundreds of miles in search of a pair of shoes that fit my dear husband. If I find a store that carries his size, they are usually a) plain ugly or b) equal in cost to a small island. (Don't even get me started on shopping for clothes.) The last time I found a reasonable pair of shoes for him, I stocked up and purchased every pair they had. He is set for 5 years. I am not joking.

Before Cannon was born, I would marvel at the tiny feet of any newborn I saw. I could not imagine anything so precious as a pair of baby feet. When he was born, I looked into his beautiful face and cried at how precious and small he was. I inspected his tiny hands, peered at his soft, cute belly, stroked his skinny legs. I pulled off his blankets and gasped at what I saw at the end of his delicate ankles... My kid had ENORMOUS feet!

I instantly began having frightening flashbacks of shoe shopping for his father. My shoe-shopping nightmares have only begun.

Bath Time

Cannon LOVES his bath. I'm thinking of enrolling him in swimming classes very soon because he is a born water bug. When I put him in, he first looks at me like I just put him in a vat of pickle juice. Then, he takes a minute to adjust. He ends up with his feet resting on the edge of his bath, head tilted back and a huge smile on his cute little mug.

Thanksgiving Point

On Labor Day, I dragged my mom, dad, lil' sis Tori and Jarom & Cannon to Thanksgiving Point. I love the gardens there. This is where Jarom and I took our bridal pictures before the wedding. I have been wanting to take a good family pic for the longest time. I also didn't have any of just me and Cannon. We got some great ones and I was extremely happy! My new thing is playing with them on iphoto. :) I absolutely love B&W, so a bunch of them were done that way.

Pictures!

I try to have a photo shoot with Cannon at least once a week. He is going on 3 months now, so I am very behind. I'll just post some of my favorites from the past few months and count that as "caught up."

My First Post!

This is not my first blog, but it will hopefully be my longest running. I know my title is a little "cliche" but I was thinking the other day that I genuinely am the most happy when I am holding Cannon. When I see him smile, when I hear his whimpers as he is waking... I just love it all. I feel like he is my little piece of heaven. So, there you go. :)
