Jarom's Other Gig

I've been wanting to do some photos with Cannon and his little sister, err, I mean the bump that will soon be his little sister. Mostly I didn't want to be in them because I'm 'severely' pregnant at this point. I feel absolutely enormous. Also, I'm hot. As in temperature, definitely NOT the other way. I enlisted Jarom's help since I'm self-timer challenged. He did such a great job! He really got into it and started throwing out directions for poses. His enthusiasm for photography reminded me of a time when he was a real-life, actual paparazzi for a night.

The story starts in 2005ish when we decided to go on a trip to visit our friends and Jarom's former roommate Jeremy and Nadia while Jeremy was attending law school at UCLA. We met up with Scott and Diana in Las Vegas and drove the rest of the way with them to Los Angeles. My cousin, Cherali who married Jarom's other roommate Brad met us there. It was such a fun road trip. Some of my favorite things we did included: walking the canals along Venice Beach; visiting the LA temple where my parents were married; a midnight trip to Baskin Robins; delicious salsa made by Nadia and Diana; wandering the local farmer's market and buying honey sticks (yum!); the Cuban restaurant we ate at from which I STILL crave black beans and rice; the Getty (beautiful!); laying on the beach in Malibu (talk about feeling insecure!); and trying (unsuccessfully) to buy socks from the Versace store on Rodeo Drive.

One of the things I remember the most was when we decided to visit the Santa Monica Pier one evening. When we drove up, it looked like something was happening but we couldn't tell what it was. We parked the cars and walked a long way to the pier. There were people everywhere and off to one side, there was a huge gathering of people. We saw bunches of people with huge cameras with giant zoom lenses and foot-tall flashes. Of course, Jarom wanted to check it out. He shoved his way through the crowd and found out it was the party for all of the TV stars for the FOX network. He came back and found me and helped me get all the way to the front of the crowd right along the red carpet. He grabbed my camera and started snapping pictures. We saw Pamela Anderson, Mischa Barton, Hugh Laurie, and Robert Sean Leonard along with a bunch of people we recognized but couldn't remember their names. Jarom shoved his way past the paparazzi to get some great shots of House (aka Hugh Laurie) and Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard). House is our favorite show so it was huge for us. Jarom chatted up some of the paparazzi guys and blew past a few of the body guards. They didn't even look at him and it was so hilarious. Sadly, I can't find the pictures from that trip anywhere. It was back before I had my laptop and we had a crappy computer that used to crash all the time. I'm sure they were sacrificed to cyber space somewhere. From that time on we've had an inside joke that if education doesn't pan out, we'll just move to LA and become paparazzi. Jarom was surprisingly good at it.

Yeah, good times.

Anyways, to end my rambling tangent...

Here are the photos Jarom took of Cannon and I and "beeby sishta." Don't you think he's got a promising second gig in the works?

Heavenly Day - A Travelogue

Oh heavenly day, all the clouds blew away Got no trouble today with anyone The smile on your face I live only to see It's enough for me, baby, it's enough for me Tomorrow may rain with sorrow Here's a little time we can borrow Forget all our troubles in these moments so few All we've got right now, the only thing that All we really have to do Is have ourselves a heavenly day Lay here and watch the trees sway Oh, can't see no other way No one at my shoulder bringing me fears Got no clouds up above me bringing me tears Got nothing to tell you, I've got nothing much to say Only I'm glad to be here with you On this heavenly, heavenly, heavenly, heavenly Heavenly day, all the trouble's gone away Oh, for a while anyway, for a while anyway

-Patty Griffin

Yesterday was my birthday. Jarom made it a great one. He suprised me by having the whole day off. I woke up 20 minutes after our alarm should have gone off and panicked that he needed to get up. He laughed and told me to go back to sleep.

Jarom made me an omelette and cleaned out my car. We decided to go to Salt Lake City and visit Liberty Park. We packed up the car with Cannon's things and got some bread to feed to the geese. Me+Jarom+Cannon+All Day+My Camera=Perfection!

Then we visited the Living Planet Aquarium. We loved all the neat fish and Cannon had a blast.

We ate dinner at California Pizza Kitchen. I got my most favorite - The Tostada Pizza. It's seriously good. We strolled the mall and then when we got home, Jarom made me a DELICIOUS rainbow chip cake. I finished the day watching the finale of The Office and snuggling with my boys. Perfect!

My dad called me this morning and wanted to make sure I would have a good day. With a guy like Jarom around, it's pretty easy to have a good one. Thanks love!

Little Helper

Cannon is a great helper. I have no doubt that he will make a great big brother since he loves to do what he sees us doing.
Here he is helping Jarom mow the lawn. He stayed right there the whole time and loved it. Every time they turned a corner, the bar would hit him in the head. He didn't mind at all. It was pretty cute to watch them.
This is his attempt at helping me cook. He wore this pot on his head until I finished. I guess in his own little way, he was helping. At least he wasn't getting into the flour.
Here he is "picking up his toys." Actually he was really trying to pose for me. He's a natural. Although he's not always helpful, he really tries.

Matching Bellies

Here is a picture from Jessica's shower. We are due the exact same day with girls. She married my friend Scott. Scotty and I have been friends since I was 13 and moved in across the street from him. It's kind of fun that my little girl will have a built-in friend when she gets here. I mean, they have to be friends, right? They are due the same day and their mommies have the same maiden name. That's the formula for true friendship. :)
