The story starts in 2005ish when we decided to go on a trip to visit our friends and Jarom's former roommate Jeremy and Nadia while Jeremy was attending law school at UCLA. We met up with Scott and Diana in Las Vegas and drove the rest of the way with them to Los Angeles. My cousin, Cherali who married Jarom's other roommate Brad met us there. It was such a fun road trip. Some of my favorite things we did included: walking the canals along Venice Beach; visiting the LA temple where my parents were married; a midnight trip to Baskin Robins; delicious salsa made by Nadia and Diana; wandering the local farmer's market and buying honey sticks (yum!); the Cuban restaurant we ate at from which I STILL crave black beans and rice; the Getty (beautiful!); laying on the beach in Malibu (talk about feeling insecure!); and trying (unsuccessfully) to buy socks from the Versace store on Rodeo Drive.
One of the things I remember the most was when we decided to visit the Santa Monica Pier one evening. When we drove up, it looked like something was happening but we couldn't tell what it was. We parked the cars and walked a long way to the pier. There were people everywhere and off to one side, there was a huge gathering of people. We saw bunches of people with huge cameras with giant zoom lenses and foot-tall flashes. Of course, Jarom wanted to check it out. He shoved his way through the crowd and found out it was the party for all of the TV stars for the FOX network. He came back and found me and helped me get all the way to the front of the crowd right along the red carpet. He grabbed my camera and started snapping pictures. We saw Pamela Anderson, Mischa Barton, Hugh Laurie, and Robert Sean Leonard along with a bunch of people we recognized but couldn't remember their names. Jarom shoved his way past the paparazzi to get some great shots of House (aka Hugh Laurie) and Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard). House is our favorite show so it was huge for us. Jarom chatted up some of the paparazzi guys and blew past a few of the body guards. They didn't even look at him and it was so hilarious. Sadly, I can't find the pictures from that trip anywhere. It was back before I had my laptop and we had a crappy computer that used to crash all the time. I'm sure they were sacrificed to cyber space somewhere. From that time on we've had an inside joke that if education doesn't pan out, we'll just move to LA and become paparazzi. Jarom was surprisingly good at it.
Yeah, good times.
Anyways, to end my rambling tangent...
Here are the photos Jarom took of Cannon and I and "beeby sishta." Don't you think he's got a promising second gig in the works?
