A Few Guilty Pleasures

Peeps
I know they have these things out at all the holidays now. I just can't eat them unless Easter is here. I saw the Easter ones in the store a few weeks ago and I bought a few packages. I was so excited to get them home, slit the package open, place it on top of the fridge and wait for them to get nice and stale. I know I'm not alone in my love of STALE peeps. Mmmm! They are so yummy and melt in my mouth. It does take a good week or two to get them to that perfect texture, but it is so worth it! Jarom thinks it's totally disgusting, but he humors me. One Easter, he was a sweetie and bought a package a few weeks in advance and opened them so they were perfect by Easter.

American Idol
Now that the audition stage is over, I'm like a silly 12 year old when Tuesday night hits. I can't be bothered to answer the phone or the door either. I've got to have my weekly dose of AI. I've been watching it since the very first show and I just can't give it up. Again, this is something that Jarom lets me indulge in, yet he can't understand my obsession. This season, my favorites are David Archuleta and Brooke White. I'm also diggin' Micheal Johns and Carly Smithson. (Did I just use the word "diggin") Haha! But seriously. I LOVE this show.

100 Calorie PacksBut not just any 100 Calorie packs. These Reese's and Hershey ones are the best. There is just that little bit of a peanut butter/chocolate experience but the small pack allows me to maintain control of my peanut buttery chocolate cravings. They are a bit pricey and I'm pretty sure I could just make my own. They are pretty good and satisfying in a pinch. I bought a big pack at Costco and they have lasted over a month.

8 Months Already?

I have no idea why I completely forgot to do an 8 month post. Maybe it was Valentine's Day, or caring for a sick baby, or being a sick baby. Well, whatever it was, I forgot and it has been an entire week since he turned 8 months.

I didn't really do an 8 month photo shoot. I think I was going to use the Valentine pictures I took. But, I already posted those. So, this picture is from when we were in St. George and he went swimming for the first time. He was so cute in his little swim trunks and shirt. He loved it!

Cannon is growing up so fast! These are some of the things he's doing at 8 months:

*Standing, Climbing, Grabbing
*He can stand on his own for a second or two
*He's eating lots of table foods (french fries, mashed potatoes, bread, fruits, veggies, cheerios)
*He loves his standing walker and pushes it all over the house
*He plays with electronic devices when he can get his hands on them (cell phones, remotes, speakers, phones)
*He has two bottom teeth coming in (FINALLY)
*He can squirm out of his buckles in the high chair and stand backwards in it (stinker!)
*He says Dada, but not Mama yet (much to Jarom's delight)
*Claps

Celebrity Look-alikes

I saw this link on Erica's blog and I thought I'd try it for Cannon. Wow! The resemblance to Terrance Howard is amazing, don't you think? Haha! Mine is interesting. I don't really see any of them at all. It was funny to do. You can click here to do one of your own.

My Valentine

Mmmm!! I really wish I could take pictures of food like The Pioneer Woman does. That little talent would have come in handy last night because sadly, this picture doesn't even do it justice. I made PW's twice baked potatoes and a yummy steak. We also had salad and shrimp cocktail. Erica made a delicious baked hot chocolate recipe. Oh, man did we all feel spoiled. We had such a blast with the Rassavong family. We played the Wii and then we played Cranium. All I have to say is I'm still laughing about Jarom's impersonation of a Kindergartener and Tony's rendition of a jail out of clay. It was too funny!

But, before we went to dinner, Jarom truly spoiled me. He never fails to shock my socks off. He got us a TV and a stand to put in our room so we can watch movies in there. But, the part that really got me crying was when he gave me a plain manilla envelope. You see, I used to sing all the time. I would sing in church or school and I wouldn't even get nervous. But, it has been a LONG time and my voice has gone down the drain. I still do the occasional performance but I get SO nervous and scared because I never know what is going to come out when I start singing. He contacted my voice teacher from high school and arranged for me to have voice lessons once a week. He even arranged for my sister or grandma to take Cannon while I'm at lessons. I'm so excited I can't even stand it. What a sweetie I have on my hands. What am I going to do with him?

To say the least, Jarom didn't disappoint. He is so wonderful and I'm a lucky girl to have him. :) I love you honey!

Mmm! Kisses!

What do you think about my little Valentine? He just has to most kissable little cheekers I couldn't resist. He's really growing up. These pictures were so fun to take today.

Well, what can I say about my hub? I love the guy. He makes me laugh so much and he's such a great daddy. I don't know why, but he loves me too. He really really does! He works hard for our family. Happy Valentines Day to my Valentine. Here's to FOREVER! I love you!

I can't wait to post about our dinner tonight. Erica and I are putting on a yummy dinner for our husbands together. Mmmm! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. What a lucky duck Jarom is. haha!

Having some fun at mommy's expense

We took these pictures last week sometime. Cannon was getting fussy but it wasn't quite nap time so I decided to entertain him with the camera on my computer. It worked for about 30 seconds (his attention span these days). Something that you should note while viewing these: When Cannon gets mad or bored, he pulls my hair. That's what you'll see in some of these. I thought they were so funny anyway.

I gave in

My sister lent me the first two books in the Twilight series clear back in June. She felt pity on my ridiculously pregnant state and suggested it as a way to get my mind off of my swollen ankles and painfully uncomfortable backaches. Little did she (or I) know that Cannon would be born the next day. Sadly, these two novels sat on my nightstand for months. It was over the Christmas break that I finally had time to read. It took me a while because I could only read during Cannon's naps. Our recent trip down to Southern Utah provided me the EXCELLENT opportunity to finally devour the first. It's great. It is definitely meant for teens because of the mush factor. Still, I loved the first and I'm onto the second. So, if you haven't read it, it's definitely an entertaining read. I even find myself daydreaming about vampires now and then.

Prophetic Passing

I imagine he's running to Marjorie now,
Yes, running, not waving his cane.
I see him embracing his father and mother
While they keep repeating his name.

I see him now meeting his forebears,
Brother Brigham and Joseph are there.
Sweet reunion of prophets, united by service
That only such noble men share.

I see him embraced by the Savior
While Father says, "Good and well done.
So faithful in stalwart endurance, I welcome
My noble, most excellent son."

I then hear the ripples of laughter
As he says the reception's just fine,
But he hopes that he'll get an assignment or two
Since there's no need to waste any time.

I can hear his clear voice in the stillness
At the close of this sweet Sabbath day,
Have faith and move forward - there's work to be done.
President Hinckley would want it that way.
